Marble and granite stonework for a public fountain pool

This fountain pool project was completed for Huseyn Cavid Park in Baku, Azerbaijan. The stonework package included Crystal White Marble tiles and special-shaped Imperial Red Granite borders, creating a strong visual contrast around the fountain basin and central monument.

Public fountain projects require stone that can perform visually and practically. The pool surface needs a clean, bright appearance, while the border stones must be durable, accurately shaped, and carefully installed around curves, corners, steps, and water edges.

Crystal White Marble for a clean water surface

Crystal White Marble was used for the lighter pool areas, helping the fountain water look brighter and clearer. The white marble surface reflects daylight and underwater lighting, giving the fountain a calm and elegant appearance.

In fountain pool projects, light-colored marble is often selected for its refined look and its ability to enhance the color of the water. For Huseyn Cavid Park, it also created a strong contrast with the surrounding red granite border.

Imperial Red Granite special-shaped borders

The fountain pool edges were made with Imperial Red Granite, a deep red natural stone that gives the project a formal and monumental character. These border pieces were not simple straight slabs. Many pieces required special shaping to fit the curved pool layout and stepped fountain design.

Accurate cutting and edge finishing were important because the granite borders define the geometry of the entire fountain pool. When the water is running, these red granite lines frame the pool and guide the eye toward the central sculpture.

Installation details for curved fountain edges

Special-shaped stone borders are one of the most demanding parts of fountain pool work. Each piece must follow the design curve, align with neighboring pieces, and maintain a consistent joint width. Small errors can become very visible once the pool is filled with water.

For this project, the granite borders and marble tiles were arranged to match the fountain’s layered layout. The result is a clean edge line, a strong color contrast, and a durable stone finish suitable for an outdoor public space.
